In short

Would you rather questions give two options and ask everyone to pick one, like “Would you rather have a theme song that plays whenever you walk into a room, or a narrator who describes everything you do?” The fun is in the reasons. Here are 300+ original questions for funny, hard, couples, first-date, kids, teens, family, work, holiday and shower games. Every list also plays as a free online game: pick in secret, predict each other, then reveal.

A Would You Rather game in play: two choice cards, a private pick and a prediction for the other player

How to play Would You Rather

  1. Pick a deck. Choose a list that suits the room: funny for a mixed group, hard for a debate, kids when children are playing.
  2. Choose in secret. Everyone picks A or B on their own phone. Nobody sees a choice until every pick is in.
  3. Predict a friend. Guess what one named player chose for 2 points. Every third round, guess how many people chose A.
  4. Reveal and ask why. The room shows every pick and keeps score. The last round is worth 4 points.

No phones? Read a question aloud, count to three, and everyone points left for A or right for B.

Common questions about Would You Rather

What are good would you rather questions?

The best ones make both options tempting, or both a little awkward, so nobody can win by being clever. “Would you rather fly, but only one foot off the ground, or be invisible, but only when nobody is looking?” works because each answer says something about the person choosing. Pick funny questions for a mixed group, hard choices for a debate, and the kids or family lists when children are playing.

How do you play Would You Rather?

One person reads a question with two options, everyone picks one, then each person explains why. To make it a game, pick in secret and predict what someone else chose. In the free online version a correct prediction scores 2 points, every third round you guess how many people chose A, and the last round is worth 4.

What are good would you rather questions for adults?

For grown-up conversation without anything explicit, try the hard choices about time, truth and trade-offs, the couples questions and the first-date list, or the questions for work with colleagues. Every list on At Yours is family-friendly: nothing explicit, no drinking games and nothing mean.

Which questions work for kids and teens?

The kids list keeps the words short and the choices silly, and the teens list covers school, phones, friends and the future. The funny, family and holiday questions suit ages 8 and up, with a grown-up reading for younger players.

Can we play Would You Rather online for free?

Yes. Open a free private room for 2–8 people, each on their own phone, tablet or computer. Guests join with a nickname: no account, app or payment. A free game is six scored rounds from any deck, and two people can also pass one phone.

What is the difference between Would You Rather and This or That?

They are the same idea at different speeds. Would You Rather gives two whole situations to weigh up; This or That gives two quick options, like “morning person or night owl?”, so it suits a fast warm-up. Both play in the same free game.

What does At Yours Plus add?

A free game is six scored rounds from any deck. A host’s At Yours Plus adds 12- or 24-round games from all 17 decks, a private game-night series and every deck as print-ready cut-out cards, for US$4.99/month or US$29/year. One host covers everyone in the room; guests never pay.

Can I print these questions?

Yes. Every list has a free PDF of 24 question cards in A4 and US Letter. Cut along the dashed lines, shuffle, and take turns reading one out. A host with At Yours Plus can print every card in every deck, ready to cut, with a cover card and optional card backs.
