Games for
long-distance couples.

Every pick below opens a real game for two. Send your partner one link, keep your call going and play on your own phones or laptops, wherever you both are.

Free to start · No download · Your partner joins free, with no sign-up

Snowfall at Hollowfell played by two people in one private room: the host’s laptop shows the observatory, the partner’s phone shows their own half of the evidence

In short

The best games for long-distance couples are ones you play live together, not lists of questions: a co-op mystery like Snowfall at Hollowfell, get-to-know-you games like Oddly in Sync, or a classic duel like Cribbage. One of you opens a free room in the browser and sends the link; your partner joins on their own phone with a nickname and no account. Keep your FaceTime, WhatsApp or Zoom call going alongside.

Solve something together

Co-op games where each of you sees something the other can’t, so you have to talk it through. No quick reflexes needed, apart from Little Lanterns.

How to play over a video call

Your usual app does the calling and the game runs in a web browser beside it. Here’s the setup, and what works on one phone.

  1. Start your call

Call as you normally would: FaceTime, WhatsApp, Zoom or anything else. At Yours doesn’t add calling of its own.

  2. Open a free room

One of you picks a game on this page, types a nickname and creates a room in the browser. Nothing to download.

  3. Send the link

Paste the invitation into your chat. Your partner opens it, types a nickname and joins. No account, no payment.

  4. Ready, then play

You both press Ready and the host starts. Dropped out? Reopen the link in the same browser to get your seat back.

With a second screen

The easiest way. Put the call on one device and the game on another: video on a phone propped up and the game on a laptop or tablet, or the other way round. Every game on this page works like this, live ones included.

With one phone each

Turn-based games work well. Depending on your phone and app, the video call shrinks to a small window or carries on as sound while you’re in the browser. Air Hockey and Little Lanterns are live and wait for both game screens, so play those with the call on another device.

A date night across two time zones

A sample evening for when it’s 8 pm for one of you and 3 pm for the other. About 75 minutes, and every part of it is free.

  1. One of you: 8:00 pmThe other: 3:00 pm

    Hello, and today’s hand

Both play the Daily Cribbage Hand on your own phones, then compare. It changes at midnight UTC, not your local midnight, so you’re dealt the same six cards.

    Play today’s hand
  2. One of you: 8:10 pmThe other: 3:10 pm

    Solve something

Open Snowfall at Hollowfell’s free first chapter, about 10–15 minutes, then Pocket Expedition’s first island if you want more.

    Start a free case
  3. One of you: 8:40 pmThe other: 3:40 pm

    A little rivalry

Settle it with a complete game of Cribbage to 121, or three holes of Mini Golf.

    Invite to Cribbage
  4. One of you: 9:10 pmThe other: 4:10 pm

    Wind down

Three free rounds of Oddly in Sync’s long-distance deck. Then pick a time for next week, and take turns so the same person isn’t always up late.

    Play Oddly in Sync

Short on time? Skip the call: both play the daily hand when it suits you and send each other your scores. For a quicker plan, try a 20-minute game night for two.

Free to start. One Plus covers you both.

Every game above has a free version, and your partner never needs an account. When you want the whole evening, the host’s At Yours Plus (US$4.99/month or US$29/year) opens the full Hollowfell case, all 28 Lantern House rooms, every Little Lanterns level and Pocket Expedition island, and longer Cribbage, Backgammon and Gin Rummy matches. One Plus covers both of you.

Just Us is a one-time US$3.99 game, and it’s included with At Yours Plus.

Questions about long-distance games

What games can long-distance couples play online?

Games you play live together from your own phones or laptops: co-op mysteries and puzzles like Snowfall at Hollowfell, Lantern House and Pocket Expedition, get-to-know-you games like Oddly in Sync and Would You Rather, and classic duels like Cribbage, Backgammon and Gin Rummy. One of you creates a room and sends the link. Every game on this page starts free.

Can we play over FaceTime?

Yes. Keep your FaceTime, WhatsApp or Zoom call going and open the game in a web browser; At Yours doesn’t include calling of its own. With a second screen, put the call on one and the game on the other. On one phone, turn-based games work with the call running alongside, but live games like Air Hockey and Little Lanterns need the game in front.

Do we both need an account?

No. One of you hosts and your partner joins free with just a nickname. Free games need no account at all. To play the full games, only the host signs in with At Yours Plus.

Are they free?

Every game here has a free version: a complete game of Cribbage, Backgammon or Dots and Boxes, Chapter 1 of Hollowfell, three rooms in each Lantern House world, the first Little Lanterns level and more. At Yours Plus (US$4.99/month or US$29/year) opens the full games, and one Plus covers both of you. Just Us is also a one-time US$3.99 game.

What if we live in different time zones?

Choose a time that’s evening for one of you and afternoon for the other, and take turns so the same person isn’t always up late. On busy days, play the Daily Cribbage Hand whenever it suits you: it changes at midnight UTC, so you’re both dealt the same cards and can compare scores later.

Do we need to download an app?

No. Everything runs in the web browser on a phone, tablet or computer, for both of you. There’s nothing to install.
