Press on the first letter and slide to the last. The selection snaps to straight lines, across, down or diagonal, and the page stays still while you drag.

Tap the first letter, then the last. Handy on small screens or with a stylus. Tap the first letter again to cancel.
Or use the keyboard
Tab to the grid, move with the arrow keys and press Enter on the first and last letters. Esc cancels. Every find is announced.

Is this word search free?
Yes. Every pack, all three levels, the daily puzzle and every printable PDF are free. There is no account, app or payment.
How do I select a word on a phone?
Drag from the first letter to the last; the highlight snaps to the nearest straight line. If your finger lands a cell off at either end, the game checks the letters right next to where you started and stopped. You can also tap the first letter and then the last.
What changes between Kids, Classic and Challenge?
Kids is an 8×8 grid with 7 words running across or down. Classic is 12×12 with 12 words and adds diagonals. Challenge is 15×15 with 18 words in all eight directions, including backwards.
How does the daily puzzle work?
It is a Classic puzzle built from the date, so everyone playing on the same date gets the same grid. It changes at midnight on your device. Your best time and a run of days are saved in this browser.
Can a word be hidden twice?
No. After the words are placed, every filler letter is checked so it cannot spell a second copy of any word in the list, in any direction. Each puzzle is verified to contain every word exactly once.
Can I print a word search for my class or party?
Yes. The Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas printables come in A4 and US Letter, each with a kids version, a classic version and an answer key. Print as many copies as you need for your own family, classroom or party.
Is it suitable for young children?
The word lists are family-friendly, and filler letters are screened against a list of rude words in every direction. The Kids level uses short words running across and down only, in big letters.
Is my progress saved?
Your current puzzle, found words, hints and best times stay in this browser on this device. Nothing is sent to an account. Clearing site data resets them.
