How to play Christmas Mahjong
Pair identical open tiles to remove them. A tile is open when nothing sits on top of it and its left or right side is free. This is a Christmas edition of our Mahjong Solitaire, Petal: the rules are the same, with 24 original winter tile faces such as Christmas trees, bells, stockings, snowmen and reindeer. Faces match exactly.
Six shapes, a daily board and an eight-stage path
Wreath has 48 tiles, Stocking 56, Christmas tree 64, Snowflake 64, Gift box 64 and Gingerbread house 72. The daily board rotates through the first five shapes and gives everyone the same deal for that UTC date; on December 25 it is the Gingerbread house. The Snowy path has eight chosen boards; clearing one opens the next. Later stages use deals where matching at random more often ends in a dead end. Every deal has a verified route to a clear board, but a different order can still leave you stuck.
Stars, hints, undo and reshuffle
Three stars: no hints or reshuffles, and three undos at most. Two stars: up to three hints and reshuffles combined. One star: any clear. Hint lights an available pair without promising it is the best choice. Undo takes back a match or a reshuffle. Reshuffle keeps the remaining faces and rearranges them with a route to completion.
A calm winter scene
Falling snow, twinkling lights and warm cottage windows, with a flurry of snowflakes for every match and a sleigh across the moon when you clear a board. The snowfall can be turned off in the game menu, and it stays off when your device asks for reduced motion. The whole game is free, with no account or download. Progress and stars save in this browser.
